William T. Garvey, 89, of Downingtown, PA; formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Chester County Hospital. William was the loving husband, of 62 years, to Patricia (nee Joyce) Garvey;

Born in Chester, Pa., he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Annie Howley Garvey.

Mr. Garvey worked for 32 yrs. as a Foreman for Chevron Oil before retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Downingtown. Described by his loved ones as a humble man with a sense of humor, William honorably served his country in the United States Air Force.

In addition to his wife William is survived by his children, Christopher M. Garvey (Carole), Timothy W. Garvey (Dawn), and Catherine G. McKenna (Kevin), and grandfather to Megan Garvey Fallon, Sarah Garvey Shaxted, Kathleen , Benjamin P., and Francis T. Garvey, Amanda L., Siobhan P. and K. Michael McKenna.

Mass of Christian Burial for William will be held on Saturday March 3, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Church 338 Manor Ave, Downingtown, PA at 10:30 am; visitation hours will be from 9-10:15AM.

Burial S.S. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Villa Julie Residence, 1531 Greenspring Valley Rd. Stevenson, MD 21153.
