Dorothy Thelma Ehling

February 7, 1922 ~ August 16, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Dorothy T. Ehling peacefully passed into her next life on August 16, 2017 at the Hickory House Nursing Home in Honey Brook, PA succumbing to metastatic breast cancer at the age of 95.

Dotty was born on February 7, 1922 in Philadelphia to Robert and Anna Evans. She is survived by her best friend and partner of 30 years, Samuel Hock. She is also survived by her loving and only child Jo Ann (Toth) Arnold (husband Howard), granddaughter De Anna (Ogborn) Ousey (husband John) and great-granddaughters Rose and Elissa Ousey.

Dotty married Louis Ehling in 1969, who died in 1984. From that marriage she leaves two step-children: David Ehling (wife Pam and their 2 children and 4 grandchildren) and Allen Ehling (wife Diane and their 3 children and 1 grandchild). Dotty was predeceased by two brothers Robert (wife Mickey) and Francis (shortly after birth). Also predeceased is son-in-law William H. Ogborn and grandson Richard L. Ogborn.

Dotty began her active and eventful life in an amazing era of change as a dancer at the age of four. She continued on with a show-business career highlighted by being part of the "Camel Caravan" musical variety program. While traveling often in her early career, Dotty and family settled in the Bucks County area for much of her later years. She opened her own small business at Peddler's Village in Lahaska, PA where she operated both a boutique and bath shop from 1964 until the early 2000's. Dorothy was a "master" bridge player and played and taught bridge for many years culminating with the opening of a bridge studio in Warminster where she continued to develop many friends.

Funeral and burial services are private. There will be a memorial luncheon hosted by the family for members of Dotty's bridge studio to be held at a later date.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Joseph Church, 332 Manor Ave. Downingtown, PA 19335.

Arrangements are being handled by the James J. Terry Funeral Home, Downingtown. To send online condolences, please visit www.jamesterryfuneralhome.com
