Wanda L. McGlinchey, 85, of Exton, died October 20, 2021. She was the widow of William J. McGlinchey, who died in 1985, and Joseph H. Ryan, who died in 1995.
Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of Ilario and Gladys Michelfelder Polite of Exton. A graduate of then-West Chester Joint Senior High School in 1953 and Immaculata College in 1957, she worked as a chemist for Hercules Powder Company and Burroughs Corporation before the births of her four children. Later, she worked for Wyeth Laboratories and General Electric from which she retired in 1994.
From 1996 to 2002, she was a freelance writer. In addition to being an avid follower of college basketball and football, Wanda devoted countless hours to knitting blankets for Penn Medicine Hospice in West Chester.
She is survived by her daughter Erin in Missoula, Montana; three sons: Kevin (Carolyn) in Media, Sean (Robin) in Downingtown and Brian (Pattie) in San Antonio; five grandchildren, Liam, Patrick, Maeve, William and Claire; and her sisters Saundra Schier and Mary Lisa Cole.
Visitation will be held at Saints Philip & James Church, Exton from 9:45 to 10:45 am on October 28, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Interment will immediately follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.
