Vernon T. Stack, Jr., 96, of Thorndale, Pa died on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Brandywine Hall in West Chester. He was the beloved husband of Lee Rogers Stack, with whom he shared 71 years of marriage.
Born in Kernersville, NC, he was the son of the late Vernon T. Stack and Sadie Crews Stack.
He served in the US Army in World War II in North Africa and Italy.
He was an environmental engineer who worked for about 70 years for companies including the State Board of Health in North Carolina, Union Carbide, Roy F. Weston, BCM and eventually on his own.
Other than his family, he dearly loved dogs of all kinds. He always carried dog treats. He was known in the neighborhood as the “good humor man” of dogs as he walked to visit his friend Peter.
In addition to his wife, Vernon is survived by his 7 children, Michael (Melody) Stack, Catherine (Kevin) Miles, William (Janet) Stack, Vernon T. Stack, III, Robert (Mary) Stack, Timothy Stack and David Stack. He is also survived by a sister, Loretta Myers and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Vernon was predeceased by a grandson, John.
