Thomas Dewey Moran

Thomas D. Moran, 73, passed away the evening of May 19th, 2023 at his home in West Chester. He was the son of the late Thomas J. Moran and Mary E. Fisher, and husband to Nancy Saville.

Tom was a lifelong resident of Chester County, and he was known to speak fondly of memories of his childhood in a one room schoolhouse. Rural Eagle, PA shaped him into a man who was a friend to many, and always willing to lend an ear to a neighbor. Those who remember Tom will agree he was a most loyal friend, and an honest man who would have been happy to help any stranger in need.

After graduating from Downingtown High School in 1967, Thomas enlisted to serve his country during the Vietnam War. Being a First Sargent of PA Army National Guard Company B 1st Battalion 111th Infantry, Tom impacted many by taking fresh young recruits and transforming them into proud, seasoned enlistees.

After honorably retiring from active service, Tom became a member of the VFW post 106 in West Chester and became the commander for VFW post 845 in Downingtown.

In addition to his parents, Thomas is preceded in death by his son, Thomas M. Moran.

An informal gathering will be held on the 79th anniversary of D Day, Tuesday, June 6th, 202, 5:00 PM to 8 PM at the West Chester Moose Lodge 908 located at 401 West Washington St. West Chester PA, 19380.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s honor have been asked to be made to any organization dedicated to those who have served our country, or to pass on good will in his memory by thanking a veteran for service to our country.
