Seria "Cyd" Poltrone

Seria “Cyd” Caporale Poltrone peacefully passed on from this life on Wednesday, December 1st.

Cyd was the beloved wife of Joseph Poltrone who predeceased her on June 25th, 2014, they shared 65 years of marriage.

Born in Downingtown on March 24, 1927, Cyd was the daughter of the late Dominick and Endorinda (Camponi) Caporale, who had immigrated from the Abruzzi region of Italy and settled on Church Street in the section of town known as Johnsontown.

Cyd attended the Downingtown West Ward School and Downingtown High School where she played hockey throughout her high school years.

She worked at Sears and Roebuck as a telephone operator until her marriage to Joe in June 1949.

Cyd went to work for Brandywine Savings in the 1960’s and was soon promoted to manager. During her years at Brandywine, she was a member of the Caln Business Association where she eventually became President. She then moved on to Jefferson Bank in Philadelphia as branch manager, until she retired at the age of 70.

Both Cyd and Joe belonged to the Cynwyd Squash and Tennis Club where they enjoyed many hours of competitive tennis and squash.

She was a great cook, and having learned from her parents, a great Italian cook. She was known for her dinner parties; her dinners were often auctioned for fundraisers.

Throughout her life Cyd was very active in her Catholic faith. In their retirement years, Cyd and Joe moved to Wellington at Hershey Mills in West Chester, where Cyd was a member of the Rosary group of Saints Peter and Paul Parish.

At Hershey Mills they enjoyed retirement to the fullest. They were both very active in many of the functions and goings on, Joe especially enjoyed poker with his friends, Cyd enjoyed bridge. She also enjoyed tending bar for many of the Friday happy hours.

Cyd loved her family and her church. She was vivacious and full of energy.

Cyd is survived by two daughters, Judy Barthel (Bill), and Dee Poltrone; and a daughter Patricia Borys Patterson predeceased, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

A morning visitation will be held from 9:45 to 10:45 Thursday, December 9, 2021, followed by mass at 11:00 A.M. at Saints Peter & Paul Parish, 1325 Boot Rd., West Chester, PA
