Mary Elizabeth Wirshup

Dr. Mary Brennan Wirshup, 62, died peacefully on February 6, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife and wonderful mother. Mary was recently the medical director at Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) for the last 20 years. Before that, she was in private practice for 14 years. During her time at CVIM, she advocated for those who did not have medical insurance and were unable to receive medical care. Throughout her career she was able to combine her passion for medicine and desire to help others.

Mary lived life to the fullest. She was an avid runner and felt the most joy when she was in nature. Mary loved spending time with her family at the beach every summer. Mary was a coach and teacher. She coached her three daughters throughout their childhood and adolescence on multiple basketball teams. Mary mentored numerous Temple Medical and Pre-Med students throughout her time at CVIM. Mary found joy in every moment. This joy impacted everyone who met her.

She is survived by her husband of over 37 years, Mike Wirshup, her daughters Maureen Allridge (husband Rich) of Ashburn, VA, Sarah Chun (husband Ben) of Fairfax, VA and Kathleen of Philadelphia, PA. As well as her mother Maureen Brennan; sisters Eileen Evans (husband Bob), Nancy Jordan (husband Bill), Bernadette Ruth (husband Chris), brother Terrance Brennan (wife Liran), and many nieces and nephews. Mary valued family and friends and was dedicated to building and keeping relationships. Mary treasured her relationship and faith in God. Those close to her knew her to be a “prayer warrior” and often interceding for others to the Blessed Mother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11 AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 2835 Manor Road, West Brandywine, PA 19320.
