Marie L. Lewis, 90, of Shavertown, PA passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018.
She was born in Glen Lyon, PA to the late Rees and Mary Jones.
Marie graduated from Newport Township High School in 1945, and continued her education at West Chester State Teachers College and received a B.S. Degree in Music Education in 1949.
A true teacher by her nature, Marie taught private piano lessons. After receiving her degree, she was a teacher in the Dallas Area School District for 20 years.
Pursuing her love of the arts, Marie followed her dreams of becoming an artist; studying under Sue Hand. Marie expressed her creativity painting, knitting and crocheting. She was an avid reader and active in her love of education through the Delta Kappa Gamma honor society for Women Educators.
In addition to her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her husband Lester Lewis, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage; her sister Dorothy Jones and her son-in-law Gerald Alborn.
Marie is survived by her daughters, Ruth (Gerald) Alborn and Patricia (Rob) Miller, 4 grandchildren; Kristin Thompson, Richard (Rachel) Alborn, Robert Miller and Michael (Ashlee) Miller, along with her 6 great grandchildren; Annelise and Blake Alborn; Carter Thompson; Cade, Rowan and Asher Miller.
Marie’s family will be honoring her memory from 4pm to 6pm April 9, 2018 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335. Burial will be held privately at St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Wapwallopen, PA.
