LeRoy H. Swisher, 90, of Coatesville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.  He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy A. Swisher, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage prior to her passing last December.

Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Clyde and Cornelia Carroll Swisher.

LeRoy proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War and retired from Acme Markets, as a Meat Cutter.  He was a life-time member and served as Post Commander of the Downingtown VFW Post 845 and a long standing member of the Downingtown Moose Lodge 1153, where he served as Governor and earned the highest honor, the Pilgrim Degree.

As a proud veteran, LeRoy believed in “Service to his Community” and was a very active volunteer with the VFW, the Coatesville VA Medical Center, the Moose Lodge, the Cub Scouts, and the Octorara Area Little League. He was also an avid bowler for many years and enjoyed traveling for tournaments. He was a devoted sports fan and especially loved the Philadelphia Phillies.

LeRoy is survived by his children, Robert B. Swisher (Sharon), Leann M. Flinn (Chuck), Terri L. Thompson (Rick) and Susan J. Swisher Moore (Jeff); 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother, Gerald “Jerry” Swisher and by his two sisters, Catherine “Minnie” Rice and Amy Hoffman (Paul).  He was predeceased by his siblingsClyde “Junie” Swisher and Shirley (Swisher) Finkey.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 1060 W. Lincoln Highway, COATESVILLE.  Family and friends will be received from 9:30 -10:45 a.m.

Interment will be in Chester County Memorial Gardens, West Chester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Coatesville VA Medical Association.
