Joseph M. Tischler

Joseph M. Tischler, 53, passed away from a heart attack while out for a jog in the evening on Tuesday, August 6th, 2019. He was the son of Phil and Nan Tischler (nee Fratis) and the devoted, loving husband of Deborah Tischler (nee Miller) for a quarter of a century.

Joe was a stubborn, loving, warm, weird, charming, goofy, wonderful man. He could fix any creak or leak in the house - or at least he thought he could. He was a creator, a builder, a lifelong learner, and a motorcycle enthusiast. He golfed, read books, fished, camped, and hiked. He loved his wife and he loved his kids; he spread his warmth to any and everyone he met. He drank a lot of whiskey and made a lot of friends. There was nothing he either couldn't do or wouldn't make a happy fool of himself trying.

Joe is survived by so many - including his parents, Phil and Nan Tischler (nee Fratis), siblings Phil Tischler, Sue Tischler, Mike Tischler, Joan Lewis (nee Tischler), and Laura Billy (nee Tischler), children Jake Tischler, Veronica Tischler, and Nathaniel Tischler, and grandchild Bridget Tischler. Joe had an abundance of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, as well as the best and closest group of "framily" a guy could ask for.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown.

A celebration of life will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Twenty9 Restaurant and Bar, 16 Great Valley Parkway, Malvern.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's honor can be made to the International Rhino Foundation to help preserve and protect his favorite animal (rhinos.org). He loved to say the rhino was his favorite because, "they're slow, heavy, and they get the job done...just like me!"
