Joseph Edward “Joe” Gasper, 94, of Downingtown, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Mary Ann “Marie” (Homitz) Gasper, sharing 70 wonderful years of marriage.

Born in Natalie, PA, Northumberland County on January 8, 1927, he was the son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Tesik) Gasper. Joe graduated from Mt. Carmel Twp. High School. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. Joe went on to work for several manufacturing companies as a machinist. He and his wife were members of St. Joseph’s Church in Downingtown for over 60 years. Often found working with his hands, he was quite the tinkerer, always taking things apart. He enjoyed working on his cars and even remodeled the home he shared with Marie. He also enjoyed writing poetry, often writing poems for his wife.

Surviving in addition to his wife Marie are children Cheryl Oswald (Ted) of Caln Twp., Joseph C. Gasper (Deb) of Fremont, NE, James A. Gasper (Kathy) of Omaha, NE, Fran Shaw (Scott), of Chester Springs, PA and Eileen Foster (Alain) of Coatesville, PA; grandchildren Chris Oswald (Jennifer), Angela Jamison (Kevin), Matt Gasper (Britt), Jennifer Francis (Mike), Angie Lake (Kyle), Alain Foster, Jr. (Brianne), Victoria Foster and Rachel Foster; great grandchildren Connor, Calvin, Peyton, Greyson, Aleira and Leo; sisters-in-law Rose Gasper and Joan Gasper and brother-in-law Tom Roche; and beloved extended family. He was preceded in death by siblings Andrew Gasper, Robert Gasper, Edmund Gasper, Charles Gasper, Raymond Gasper, Dolores Mudrock and Marcella Roche.

Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 332 Manor Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM prior to mass at the church. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
