Tribute

John Paul O’Brien, Jr., 94, of West Chester and Wynnewood, formerly of Syracuse, NY, died on July 4, 2018. One of the last of the Greatest Generation, he was a World War II fighter pilot of P-51 Mustangs for 3 years in the Army Air Corps and retired as a Major from the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He was a 1948 graduate of Syracuse University.  John joined New York Central Railroad in Syracuse; he retired from Conrail in Philadelphia, 1986, as Senior Budget Analyst. His beloved wife, Arlene Marie Brogan died in 2004 after 55 years marriage. He will be missed by his beloved sister Eleanor Mood, children David, Carol and husband Rick, and Paul; his grandchildren Rick Kerr (USAF Maj.), Kathleen Kerr, John Kerr (USAF Capt.), and Christopher O’Brien; and great-grandchildren Cora Kerr and Annabelle O’Brien.   John was a golfer, a fervent Phillies fan, and friend to Chase, his golden retriever. He was a member of SS. Philip & James Church, Exton, where a private funeral Mass was held; he will be interred at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Marcellus, NY, later this summer.
