Jane T. George

Jane T. (Crofts) George, 97, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Sunrise Assisted Living, Exton.  She was the widow of Jerome M. George, with whom she shared over 30 years of marriage.

Born in Rochester, New York, she was the daughter of the late William Ormrod Titus and Margaret Williams.  She graduated from Colby-Smith College and started in the medical field as a lab technician, with a side of journalism.  Jane later went into a career of real estate, which she practiced for over 40 years, most recently at Berkshire-Hathaway.

Her avid love of polar bears led to her become a docent emeritus at the Philadelphia Zoo with over 25 years of volunteer service.  She enjoyed traveling, golfing, dancing, reading, crossword puzzles, Jeopardy!, chocolate with nuts and long walks in the country. She will be remembered for being classy, quirky, professional, and uplifting to name a few.  She also was a hard worker into her 80’s and early 90’s being employed as “Banana Queen” at Wegmans Markets.

She is survived by her children by Frederick S. Crofts: Michael O. Crofts of Lionville, Lisa C. McCafferty of New York, Heidi M. Crofts of Birchrunville; her two step sons, Kent G. George of Florida and Jerome (Jay) M. George, Jr. of Georgia; 10 grandchildren; and 7 1/2 great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her son, Christopher “Reggie” Crofts of Brandamore.

The funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at James T. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, with a visitation from 1:30 pm – 2:45 pm.
