Frank A. Steidler III, 68, of Downingtown, died peacefully at home on March 2, 2019 after complications from heart surgery.
Frank was born in West Chester, PA on September 2, 1950 to Lorraine (Cain) Steidler and the late Frank A. Steidler Jr.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joanne (Mento) Steidler, and their children, Brett Steidler (Melissa), Karen Steidler, and Stacey Zehren (Ryan); and grandchildren, Quinn, Lila, Nico, Leo, and Rhys Steidler, and Landon Zehren.
He is also survived by siblings Carol Valocchi, Patty Howie (Brent), Sharon Steidler, and Jeff Steidler (Kelly); and many nieces and nephews.
A 1968 graduate of Bishop Shanahan High School, Frank served with the United States Army in Vietnam.
He graduated from West Chester University in 1975 and was a longtime employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Downingtown.
Frank’s lifelong passion for coaching basketball left his impression on many athletes from Devon Prep, West Chester Henderson, and Downingtown East.
He went on to receive his master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University, leaving a legacy with many students as a teacher and administrator with the Chester County Intermediate Unit.
In addition to his family and friends, Frank’s loves included golf, March Madness, a good day at the beach in Sea Isle City, and his dogs, Elbie, Jake, and Remmy.
Friends and family are invited to his viewing from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 7th at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Friday, March 8 at St. Joseph Church, 332 Manor Ave., Downingtown, followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m.
