Ernest “Nana” Panetti, age 89, of Downingtown, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2021 at Pocopson Home in West Chester.
Ernie was preceded by his wife of 65 years, Peggy (Urbine) Panetti. He was the son of the late Vincenzo “Big Jim” and Elizabeth (Lucidi) Panetti.
Ernie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He retired from Sonoco Paper Products after 50 years of service. Ernie was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Downingtown and was a life member at St. Anthony’s Lodge in Downingtown. He loved being outside working in the yard and his vegetable garden. Ernie enjoyed going to the horse races with his buddies. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Ernie is survived by his children, Vince, Tom husband of Kathy, Mary wife of Donald DiStefano and Megan Panetti, all of Downingtown; grandchildren, Lauren, Nicholas, Brooke, Jason, Fayth, Monica and Dominick; and great grandchildren, Henry and Deen. He was preceded by his siblings, Jessie Sardella, Yolanda Marcocci, Amelia Mason, Dominick “Mink” Panetti and Edward Panetti.
A visitation will be held from 4 pm until 6 pm on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 East Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown. A second visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 10:45 am on Friday, November 12, 2021 at St. Joseph Parish, 332 Manor Avenue, Downingtown. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 am. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
