Edward McAnany, 87, of Elkton, MD passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at Laurelwood Healthcare Center, Elkton.
Edward was the son of the late James and Lillian Reed McAnany. Ed served in the Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed cars and was an auto-mechanic most of his life; later becoming a security guard. He had a love for German Shepherds that began in childhood with a service dog (Grundy) from Germany. He owned 5 German Shepherds over the course of his life and became certified as a dog trainer. Ed was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan and also enjoyed country music and frequented concerts in Nashville in his spare time.
Ed grew up in Chester, PA in a foster family and is survived by a foster sister Carol Klock of Colorado Springs, CO. Carol documents much of their foster care story in her book “I’m a Nobody”. The past three years of Ed’s life he became endeared to the Hodges family of New London PA and at times would refer to Monica as his church daughter.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 7, at 2:30 PM at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
