David Charles Leary

David Charles Leary, 57, of Coatesville, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 12, 2022 surrounded by his family.  He was the beloved husband of Laura DeMeritt Leary, with whom he shared 18 years of marriage.

Born in Bryn Mawr, he was the son of David C. Leary and Carol A. Schuermann Leary.

David was a long-time volunteer Fire Police Officer for Westwood Fire Company and Thorndale Fire Company and served as Captain multiple times at both fire companies.  He worked for 16 years at Matthew’s Ford in Paoli before going to Krapf Bus Company where he was a valued and respected school bus driver employee for over a dozen years.  David loved and admired muscle cars, especially his 1969 maroon Mercury Cougar.  He was a member of the Top Dead Center Motor Club out of Chester Springs.  David enjoyed traveling & cruising with his wife.  David was a kind and gentle soul and was liked by everyone he met.

In addition to his wife and parents, David is survived by his sister, Kelley Nye; his nieces and nephew, Elizabeth Nye, Allison Nye, Meredith Schwiebert and Joshua Schwiebert; his sister-in-law Rebecca Schwiebert and her husband Michael; and his sister-in-law, Jennifer DeMeritt. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William & Barbara DeMeritt.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
