Barbara G. Huberty, 88, of Coatesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26th, 2024 at home. She was the beloved wife of Edward J. Huberty, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Francis A. and Barbara Kulpa Chandler.

Upon graduating from Marquette University in 1957, Barbara married her college sweetheart, Ed. The couple then started their family in St. Paul, Minnesota. Later, Barbara and her family moved to Chester County where they owned and operated the West Chester KOA campground for over a decade.

With a passion for travel and birding, she and Ed visited all 48 continental states, almost every national park, and made a memorable a 5000-mile RV trip from Pennsylvania to Alaska. Together they also spent 16 summers at their residence in Woody Point, Newfoundland and many winters in Tucson, Arizona, making countless fond memories and lifelong friends.

Barbara was an original feminist. Having graduated college in a time not a lot of women did, she ventured in entreprenuership, political activism, worked as a probation officer, and gave back to the community through volunteer work, setting an inspiring example for the generations ahead of her.

In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her four children, Vincent E. Huberty (Lisa M. Blosenski), Karen M. Curley, Paul F. Huberty (Heather Wray), and Matthew M. Huberty (Angela Puliti); eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her brother, Norbert F. Chandler.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2024 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown.  Family and friends will be received from 2:00 - 3:15 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Chester County Historical Society.
