Alfred S. Peterman

May 16, 1922 ~ September 10, 2019 (age 97) 97 Years Old

Tribute

Alfred S. Peterman, 97, of Downingtown, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the Hickory House Nursing Home in Honey Brook.

He was the beloved husband of the late Helen Beatty Peterman.

Born in Chester Springs, Al was the son of the late William and Mary Whitely Peterman.

Shortly after graduating from West Chester High School in 1940, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served as a medic during WWII; earning the American Campaign, World War II Victory and EAME Campaign medals.

Mr. Peterman retired from the Borough of Downingtown where he worked for 15 years as their Superintendent of Maintenance from Downingtown’s Regional Water Polution Control Center.  He was the former Chief of the Downingtown Fire Department and was still a member of the Alert Fire Company.

The pride and joy in his life was his family especially his grand and great-grandchildren

He is survived by his daughters Donna Dunn and Dianne Plaugher (Steve); grandchildren, Carol Moore, Lisa Koppenol, Stephen Dunn, and Shawn Plaugher; and great grandchildren, Brian Moore, Amelia Moore, Avery Dunn, Lilah Dunn, and Riley Plaugher.

A morning visitation will be held on Monday, September 16th from 9:30 to 10:45 am at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, followed by his funeral service at 11 am.

Interment will be in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Exton.

Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to St. Paul’s UCC, 101 Worthington Road, Exton, PA 19341.
