My deepest sympathies to the Bertha family for Mike's sudden passing… I can’t begin to imagine your sorrow. As I’m sure all of his fellow West Point classmates would agree, Mike was a great teammate and friend as well as a tremendous role model for us all....a true man of character. I will miss seeing him and sharing a laugh at future Army/Navy Games and Class events. You can be sure he will always remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Mike… “Well Done; Be Thou At Peace.”

Dear Dorothy and family,
We Pekos were surprised and saddened to learn of Micheal's passing. He was such a vibrant young man. It is our hope and prayer that you find comfort in knowing that he is with his Savior and Dad even now. Our thoughts are with you all.

Lori: Sheri and our family are shocked and saddened to hear of Mike's passing. It seems like a lifetime ago we began our journey together in Germany and in Houston. Our memory of Mike will always be of how much he loved you and Mikey. We lost touch, but we have wonderful memories of our friendship together. The Wrestling ring in Mikey's room, WrestleMania
and Hack Saw Jim Duggan, Matt's birthday party at McDonalds...so much fun. We were all just kids. I just want you to know that your Mike was such a great person. I always looked up to him and admired him back to our days at West Point for his strength of convictions and his fun personality. We are so sorry for your loss and pray that your family finds strength in his life and smiles in his warmth. Very sincerely, Mike and Sheri Curran and family.

Our condolences and prayers are sent to Mike's entire family. Mike coached our son, Tom, in LYA baseball one year, and he and Pat attended middle and high school together. He was a good man and will be missed by all.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mikes family. I had the pleasure to grow up with Mike in Yorktown and not only was he a great athlete, but more importantly he was a tremendous person. He was kind, considerate and very genuine. He will be missed, however he lives on through all of us - the lives he has touched.

Mike and I were friends in high school and I always admired him. He was so disciplined and already had such a strong sense of honor and ethics. My prayers are with his family and close friends and I wish you peace and strength during this sad time. Carolyn Signorelli

We are devastated with the news of Mike passing away. As his teacher and coach, I literary saw Mike every day from age 11 as a Middle Schooler through his graduation from Yorktown High School. I never met his two sons, but I want them to know that Mike was the most dedicated, disciplined, hard working young man that I have taught in 34 years. He was a Champion gymnast, yet very humble and always helping others. We were so proud of him getting into West Point. His parents were always supportive and so proud of Mike.

Years later, we were honored to be invited to his wedding to his beautiful wife, Lori at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Mike always had the time to stop by to just chat. He was like a son to us. We'll miss him greatly.

R.I.P. Mike

Mike was my roommate for a semester at West Point but a friend for life who I wish I had kept in touch with (a lesson for us all). I remember him for his intellect, his powerful musculature, his discipline and his wry sense of humor. He was literally and figuratively a "rock" of a man. I'm sure the cadet I knew and the man he became was one in the same. To his wife and his family, all I can say is I'm sorry for your loss, and you can be proud. Sincerely, Greg Enochs, USMA 86, I-4. I only met Mike a few times but even in that it was clear that he was a good man who lived with purpose and conviction; loved his family and loved his country. Condolences to his entire family and all who hold him in their hearts. ~ Braden Diaz 7-Eleven
