Josephine O. Barlow, 91, of Downingtown, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Freedom Village in Coatesville surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Quayle H. Barlow who passed away in 2013, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage with at his time of passing.
Born in Ashe County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Emett and Vista Florence Graybeal Oliver.
Josephine graduated from Riverview High School in 1942. After her children were born, Josephine was a stay home mom for her three children. Once her children were out of school, Josephine worked at Pepperidge Farms and was employed there for 25 years.
She was a member of the Downingtown United Methodist Church for 62 years and served on their knitting committee. Josephine had a knack for knitting, was a veracious reader and a lifelong learner.
She is survived by her children, William (Linda) Barlow of West Grove, Phil (Lynn) Barlow of White, Georgia and Nancy B. Swisher of Kinzers. Josephine is also survived by her grandchildren, Chrystal Fost, Casey Reiss, Brandi Hilovsky, Brian Philip Barlow, Bradley Hugh Barlow, Stephen Quayle Barlow, Jennifer Myer and Rebecca Escalona; and 25 great-grandchildren and one sister, Doris Oliver of West Jefferson, NC.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers and six sisters.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26th at Downingtown United Methodist Church, 751 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, PA 19335. There will be a visitation held prior to the service where friends and family may call from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown. Interment will be held at Hopewell Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Downingtown United Methodist Church, 751 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown PA, 19335.
