Dawson B. Turner

August 30, 1936 ~ December 15, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Dawson Bateman Turner, 81, of West Chester, PA, passed away on  Friday, December 15, 2017 at his home.  He was the loving husband of Cindy Haggart, with whom he shared  21 years of marriage.
 
Born in Chester City, PA, he was the son of Thomas Bateman Turner and Roberta Mae Young (Turner).
 
After serving in the United States Army he was then the Owner & Operator of Chester Mack Sales and Services.
 
Dawson was Deacon for two terms at First Presbyterian Church of West Chester Volunteer at Chester County Hospital where during his 10 years of volunteer work he became affectionately known to the elderly female patients as "the guy who sings", and would often be available to his fans on request; his favorite song to sing; "You Don't Bring Me Flowers Anymore".
 
Dawson was also an active member in the Lions Club and the Live Steamers Train Club.
He was a lover and frequent passenger of Strasburg Rail Road, old cars, Mack trucks, Eagles Football (with the Steelers as a second favorite), Frank Sinatra, singing and reading anything that kept his interest.
 
He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Haggart, his two daughters Linda (Wally) Harris, and Sandy (Steve) Campbell, along with
3 step children, Kristin Roosevelt, David (Alana) Blower, Cynthia (Jack) O'Brien. Dawson now watches over his 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
 
Services for Dawson Turner will be on Wednesday, December 20 at First Presbyterian Church of West Chester 130 West Miner Street from 10:00-11:30 am with a memorial service in his honor at 11:30 am.
