Yvonne Marie Anthony

Yvonne Marie (Bruno) Anthony, 83, of West Brandywine Township, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Chester County Hospital, West Chester. Born in Clifton Heights, PA, Yvonne was the daughter of the late David and Marie Bruno. She was the wife of the late Eugene Anthony, who passed away in 2018.

Yvonne was the Head Baton Majorette in her High School Marching Band and was a member of the Chorus and several other clubs throughout her high school years. She graduated Clifton Heights High School in 1957. At a high school dance is where she met and eventually married Gene in 1959.

Yvonne and her husband moved to Downingtown in 1961. Together they owned and operated a family business until their retirement. After her husband’s passing, she moved to Freedom Village in 2020.

Yvonne was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Downingtown. She participated in the Aids for Friends Program preparing meals for families in need for many, many years. She also provided baked goods for the annual St. Joseph’s Carnival for their bake sale. Her willingness to help those in need was endless, her favorite annual contribution was to anonymously adopt a family during the Christmas season in order for families to have gifts that they would otherwise not be able to receive.

She enjoyed cooking and baking. Everyone loved her culinary gifts, especially her family, friends and neighbors who would receive home cooked meals and desserts often. Italian Wedding Soup and Spaghetti dinners were a tradition at her house.

She was also known for making blankets for the Oncology Department at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for the past 20 years. She wanted the children to be comfortable and warm during their treatments.

Yvonne was a woman of faith, reading and praying daily. Family was her greatest love!

This “sweet lady” will be remembered by the many people who’s hearts she touched.

Yvonne is survived by her children: Michael Anthony (Lillian), of Downingtown, and Gene Anthony (Connie), of Cochranville; grandchildren: Christina Lopez (Abel), Vincent Anthony (Stacey), David Anthony (Samantha), and Christopher Anthony; greatgrandchildren: Ariana Lopez, Eliza Anthony, and Marcy Anthony.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 9:30-10:45 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 332 Manor Ave., Downingtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM at the church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Downingtown.
