William E. McDonaugh of Coatesville
William E. McDonaugh, 76, of Coatesville, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in Florida. He was the beloved husband of Deborah Lynn Witmer McDonaugh, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage.
Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late John J. and Edythe C. Fulton McDonaugh.
Bill was an avid fisherman, adored his friends, but most of all, loved his family.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his children, Bryan W. McDonaugh, Nicole L. Glass and Eric A. (Teresa J.) Glass; two brothers, James and Robert McDonaugh and by three grandchildren, William J. McDonaugh and Mitchell C. and Lukas R. Glass. He was predeceased by four siblings, Jack McDonaugh, Elizabeth Burnett, Richard McDonaugh and Lucy Couden.
He graduated from Unionville High School in 1960. He played semi-pro soccer and served in the army. He worked at Beloit Corporation in Downingtown. He then moved on to Philadelphia Gear as a programer.
Bill attained his teaching credentials from Temple and Penn State. He taught computer related courses for 33 years at the Central Chester County Vocational Technical School and Center for Arts and Technology both part of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. He taught classes in Electronic Data Processing, Business Academy, and created the Computer Information Systems Program. He served as advisor to Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (Skills USA) and Future Business Leaders of America. He also served as the Union President for PSEA for 10 years.
He was an avid tournament angler for over 50 years. Bill was co-founder of the Delaware Valley Bassmasters in the 1960’s. He was this clubs sitting president. He was a member of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society. Over his fishing career, he tournament fished with the Anglers Choice Circuit, BFL Redman tournaments and most recently Paycheck Tournament Series Bass Circuit. He was selected to represent PA in a National Bass Tournament.
Bill participated with his son, Bryan, in the Boys Scouts of America. They participated in many scouting activities. He was especially proud when his son earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He continued to enjoy scouting activities through his grandsons Will and Mitchell.
After his retirement, Bill became an owner of the Nauti Goose restaurant. For several years, he was one of the sponsors for the Wounded Warriors Fishing Tournament in Northeast Maryland. Every year, he took a warrior fishing for the tournament.
Bill enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to take his grandchildren to the Philadelphia Zoo, the beach, and fishing. He spent many hours watching and supporting sport events, concerts, and school activities for his children and grandchildren. He traveled with his family on many vacations that included fishing.
Bill was a very social person who enjoyed having conversations with everyone, had a fun loving personality, and a mischievous sense of humor. He continued to be very active in life. He was adored by many.
A viewing will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2018 and again on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 9-10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 1060 W. Lincoln Highway, COATESVILLE.
