Wayne R. Schenker

July 12, 1957 ~ February 10, 2020 (age 62) 62 Years Old

Tribute

Wayne R. Schenker, 62, of Coatesville, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020 at Seasons Hospice at Phoenixville Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Patricia Ann Murphy, with whom he shared 37 years of marriage.

Born in Bryn Mawr, Wayne was the son of the late Robert and Julia Delaney Schenker and a 1975 graduate of Conestoga High School.

For the past four years, Wayne worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Case Worker for the Human Services Department.

Prior to that, he was employed for 13 years with Somat Corp., which was previously based in Coatesville. He began as a Machinist and then worked his was way up to a National Sales Manager. In sales, he had the opportunity to travel the world and took advantage of seeing and learning about each new place he went.

But of all the places he’s been, his favorite place to visit, by far, was the beach at Wildwood Crest, New Jersey. He absolutely loved the shore and walking the boardwalk.

On the other hand, his favorite place to eat was at the Double D Diner in Coatesville - where you could find Wayne and Patty, in a booth by the back door, every Saturday morning for breakfast.

He was a true motor head who enjoyed restoring old motorcycles and adored his ’98 Chevy Corvette, “Big Red”.

He instilled in his children his love of music, particularly for rock and roll, and encouraged them to appreciate music and musical instruments. In fact, he was planning a “Ham Jam” this upcoming summer with his boys, dear friend, Domenic, and future son-in-law, Kyle; combining his love of drums, music, family and fun.

He was also a great cook and a superb wedding planner; having helped his daughter with every detail of her upcoming wedding.

Wayne was a devoted husband and terrific father. He will be greatly missed by his whole family.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Schenker is survived by his children, Stephen M. and his wife, Vicky, of Lancaster, Martin R., Annmarie and her fiancé, Kyle Merget, and Andrew J. and his fiancé, Lisa Watts, all of Coatesville; brother, Robert and his wife, Meredith, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; and sister, Sherry Darrow of Salem, New Hampshire.

An evening visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, February 12th at the James J. Terry Funeral Home – Valley Township, located at 1060 W. Lincoln Hwy, Coatesville.

A morning visitation will be held from 9 to 10 am on Thursday, February 13th, also at the James J. Terry Funeral Home – Valley Township, followed by a procession to St. Peter Church, 2835 Manor Road, West Brandywine, where his Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 am.
