Wayne A. Markel, age 62, of Downingtown, PA, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Brandywine Hospital. Wayne was born in Coatesville, PA to the late James C. Markel Sr. and Doris (Taylor) Markel. From 1972-1976, Wayne enlisted in the US Marines, and was a proud veteran. For many years Wayne worked as a laborer and an assistant superintendent for Bozzuto Construction. He enjoyed spending time with family, neighbors and friends. He also enjoyed sitting on his porch after work with his wife reading the paper and having an Old Milwaukee. Wayne also loved the mountains. Wayne will be greatly missed for his kindness, his dedication to his job, his selfness nature and his loving spirit by all who knew him and came in contact with.
In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his brother James C Markel Jr. and his 2 beloved dogs Pepper and Windsor.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife Beverly Maxwell Markel of whom they shared 27 years of marriage his sisters Darlene Markel of Coatesville and Dawn Snodgrass (Dave) of North Carolina his favorite niece Tina Gregor and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wayne’s funeral services will remain private. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Wayne’s name can be made to the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, www.nationalbreastcancer.org.
