Vincent DeAscentiis was born in Bryn Mawr, Pa on Februray 12, 1934 to parents Mary (Domenick) and Constantino DeAscentiis. Vince grew up in Devon, PA. For many years he was a paperboy. He enjoyed playing baseball, football, and basketball with neighborhood friends.
Vince graduated from Radnor High School and studied at Drexel Evening College for 2 years. He was in the navy from 1952-1956 aboard the USS Kirkpatrick, DER 318. He was the lead sonar man for 2 years.
He began his career as a senior instrument technician at Burroughs Great Valley Labs, Malvern, after leaving the navy. Eventually he moved into programming. Vince lived in Belgium for a year to support a NATO contract. While there he was able to travel extensively in western Europe. After retiring from Unisys in 1992 with 36 years of service (Burroughs became Unisys after a merger) he had a number of part-time jobs including construction and wireman for Veltek
He and his first wife, Angela Marchese DeAscentiis, who passed in 2002, had 2 children, Mary Beth Tyson who lives in Tennessee and Michael who lives near Seattle. He has 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Vince had one sibling, Julia Lloyd, who preceded him in death.
For many years Vince enjoyed playing golf in the Burroughs league and with friends. He was in the Burroughs bowling league. He liked to watch many kinds of sports on TV, especially the Eagles, Villanova Basketball and the Phils and he liked to play slot machines
Vince married Karen Norris in 2008 after 5 years of being significant others.
They both loved to travel and have been fortunate to take many wonderful trips

· Trans Canada Rail Trip (from VanCouver to Toronto)
· Rose Parade and Tour – Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Death Valley, Crystal Cathedral

· A week in Ireland with a return trans-Atlantic cruise on the Queen Mary 2
· A trip up and down the western coast of Norway into 23 small fishing villages on a mail delivery ship. It crossed the Arctic Circle, went around the Northern tip of Norway and stopped in a town that borders Russia
· A Mediterranean cruise on the inaugural voyage of the Carnival Magic
· 3 days in Barcelona followed by a Mediterranean cruise on a 5-masted, 42-sail clipper yacht, the Royal Clipper – Monte Carlo, Cannes, the Amalfi Coast, Portofino, Rome, Pisa
· New Orleans and western Caribbean Cruise
· Fall New England and Canada Cruise
· Bermuda Cruise
· Bahamas Cruise
They spent part of winter in Florida nearly every year since getting together. They have attended several reunions of the DER 318 Kirkpatrick at various locations on the east coast and have gone to visit friends at their summer home in Avalon, NJ nearly every year. They frequently enjoyed driving through beautiful Lancaster County. He and Karen enjoy a great home on the western edge of Chester County.
Vince was a very special man. He had a very positive outlook on life and had a ‘can do’ attitude. He made people smile with his great sense of humor and warm smile. He was very personable and made friends wherever he was. He had a genuine interest in others.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday July 25, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM at the James J. Terry Funeral Home 1060 W. Lincoln Highway COATESVILLE, Pa (Valley Twp.)
His mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday July 26, 2019 at 11 am from St. Peter Church 2835 Manor Rd. West Brandywine Twp. Where friends may visit from 9:15 to 10:45 am.
