On the morning of Thursday, September 7th, Suad Nasri Kawar, at the age of 90, peacefully released her suffering in the comfort of her home in Exton, Pennsylvania after a long exhausting battle with several chronic illnesses. She was married to Nasri Shafik Kawar, Professor Emeritus of the American University of Beirut, with whom she shared 63 loving years of marriage.

Born in Maaser el-Shouf, Lebanon, at the edge of the famous cedars of Lebanon, she grew up to be as strong and enduring as those majestic forests. She was the oldest daughter of Farid and Fareeda Nujaim. Her most important and noble role began at a young age when as the oldest daughter, she started helping her mother care for her younger sisters. As she grew into the elegant young lady she always was, she began working as a secretary at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. It was then that she would meet the man who would become her husband beginning their 67 blissful years together.

As they built and grew their life together into what became known as being an ideal couple, the love and adoration of all who met her around the world also grew. Wherever she went, whoever she met, she was always known for her kindness, generosity, gentleness, compassion, grace, inner and outer beauty, welcoming and giving nature, guidance, elegance, faith, loyalty, and her magical cooking and baking skills.

She is survived by her husband, Nasri Kawar, her son, Ramzi, his wife Jennifer, and their daughters Phoebe and Thea, her son Shafik, his wife Helene, and their son Andrew, her daughter Rania and her husband Skip, and her daughter Amal and her sons Logan and Micah.

The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023 at James J. Terry Funeral Home at 736 East Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, Pennsylvania 19335, where family and friends may visit from 9:30 am until 10:45 am.  Burial will follow in Northwood Cemetery.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
