Stephen R. Long

Stephen R. Long, 63, of Chester Springs, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at his home. Born in York, Pa., he was the son of the late Richard J. and Gloria E. Benfer Long.

Steve graduated from York Suburban High School in 1975 and subsequently served in the United States Airforce for 4 years. He was first stationed in Germany, and eventually in Arizona, where he fell in love with motorcycles, and stayed to graduate from Arizona State University in 1983. Steve was adored by everyone who knew him and was known for his free-spirited nature. He loved loud music, cooking, and his Harley Davidson (Maybelline). Though he struggled at times, he enjoyed sharing “EXCELLENT” meals with family and friends, and laughing over good stories. Steve worked in information technology for 38 years, most recently with the Navy Procurement Unit in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Clare E. Long, son Stephen J. Long, and Kathleen (Johnston), the mother of his children. In addition, Steve is survived by his brother Joseph (Rochelle), nephew Wesley, niece Emily, Uncle Paul Benfer (Millie), and several cousins.
