Stephen Howard Johnson

Stephen H. Johnson, age 69, of Marshallton, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, at home.

Steve was born in West Chester, PA. Steve is survived and dearly missed by his wife Martha “Marty” (nee Wollaston), with whom he shared nearly 46 years of marriage; his children, Eric (Gretchen) Johnson and Stephanie (Matthew) Sliwa, his grandson Lucas Johnson, his step granddaughters Julia and Lindsay Sliwa, his sister Theresa DePietropaolo, and many nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, the late Richard F. Johnson and Aleathia T. Chandler.

Steve was a graduate of Kennett High School in 1966. In 1967, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served his country in the Vietnam War. For many years, he owned and operated J&J Enterprises, a trucking business. His favorite pastimes included spending time with his family, discussing politics and current events, tending to his flower gardens and maintaining his 200+ year old house and property.

A Celebration of Life for Steve will be held on August 25, 2018 with visitation beginning at 1:00PM, followed by a 2PM memorial service, at New Garden Friends Meeting, 875 Newark Road, Toughkenamon, PA 19374. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Steve’s name can be made to Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, 1249 Cocoa Ave, Suite 115, P.O. Box 852, Hershey, PA 17003 (checks payable to “Four Diamonds”) or the Coatesville VA Medical Center, Voluntary Services, 1400 Blackhorse Hill Road, Coatesville, PA 19320 (checks payable to the “Department of the VA”).
