Sharad S. Parikh, age 79, of Downingtown, PA, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018, at Brandywine Hospital.
Sharad was born in Mahudha, Gujarat, India, to the late Shantilal and Saraswati Parikh. For the last 31 years, Sharad and his wife Indira resided in Downingtown.
He obtained his Masters of Science degree in Advanced Polymer Chemistry from the University of Leeds in Leeds, England. For many years he worked as a senior chemist in the plastics industry, until he eventually retired and opted to hold a sales position at the Macy’s Department Store.
There are so many words to describe who Sharad was: a loving husband, father, grandfather (“Dada”), brother, and friend. He inspired others with his faith, positivity, patience, and sense of humor. An avid reader, he led by example and inspired his children and grandchildren to foster a love of learning.
Above all, he will be remembered for his kind, generous heart; he never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
In addition to his parents, Sharad was preceded in death by his daughter Shaefaly, and 2 siblings Sunil and Shrikant Parikh.
He is survived and missed by his wife Indira, with whom he shared almost 55 years of marriage, daughters Shirley (John) Capone and Sherry (Stephen) Feathers, son Salil (Kinnaree) Parikh, 4 grandchildren; Ethan, Nolan, Rahul and Riya, 1 brother Snehal Parikh, and 3 sisters; Sharmista Parikh, Saudamini Shah, and Sohag Doshi.
Relatives and friends are invited to Sharad’s funeral services on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at 12pm, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, where family and friends can visit from 10am-11am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sharad’s memory to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
