Sandra Mae Martin

May 7, 1942 ~ June 9, 2022 (age 80)

Sandra Mae Martin, 80, of Downingtown, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Zerbe Sisters in Narvon, Lancaster County.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,  Sandra, affectionately known as Sandy by friends and family, was the daughter of the late Felix and Ethel Donahue Ritchie.

She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth J. Martin, with whom she had shared a loving 45 years marriage at the time of his passing in 2017.

Sandy had worked as a Medical Assistant in Philadelphia at the Police& Fire Medical Association. She loved her role and enjoyed helping others throughout her career.  Sandy enjoyed traveling with her husband Ken to many of his Tin Can Sailor reunions. Sandy also enjoyed camping, the beach, especially Cape May, New Jersey, and spending time with her kids and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking big family meals and homemade meatballs, which  became her specialty. They were always an integral part of family get togethers. But most of all, she  loved her family with all her heart. She had a fiery, bright personality with a heart of gold. Her extensions of love to all were unmistakable and a true hallmark.

Sandy is survived by her daughters, Fay Linkiewicz (Michael), Ethel Martin and Dina Morson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Melissa Bolden (Allen), James McKenna (Stephanie), Elisabeth O’Brien (William), Jennifer McKenna, Brett Pinkerton (Katelyn), Cole Pinkerton, Ainsley and Bronwen Sherman; and great-grandchildren, Ryan & Callie Bolden, Fallon Fogarty-O’Brien and Nash Pinkerton. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved sons, John and James McKenna.

Sandy was of remarkable character, strength, and whole hearted love. She will be missed by all those who loved her. May her memory be eternal.

A morning visitation will be held from 9:15 to 10:15 am on Saturday, June 18th at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Elizabeth Church, 120 St. Elizabeth Dr., Chester Springs.
