Ruth A. Smith, 92, of Sadsburyville, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Twin Pines Nursing Center, West Grove, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late William Norman Smith, Sr, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2005.

Born in Downingtown, she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth Nichols Whitely.

Ruth loved to do puzzles, work in the yard and loved being around her swimming pool, but most of all, she loved to attend family gatherings. She was a long-time member of Thorndale United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her two sons, W. Norman Smith, Jr. and his wife Denise and James L. Smith and his wife Lindie; a sister, Mary Lou Martin; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Ruth was predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters.

An evening visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 2, 2017 and again from 9:45-10:45 am, Friday, November 3, 2017 followed by her funeral service at 11:00 am at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 1060 W. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville (Valley Twp.).

Interment will be in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery, Downingtown.
