Tribute

Russell Stanley Bentley, 60, of Coatesville passed away on Friday, July 27th in Paoli surrounded by loved ones. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Russell was the son of Anna J. Malarkey and the late James Russell Bentley. Russ graduated in 1976 from Ridley High School where he lettered in track. He went on to a 28 year career as a Process Controller with Wyeth Labs in West Chester, PA, followed by a 12 year career with Johnson and Johnson in their pharmaceutical division as a Bio-Technician.

Russell was family oriented and thoroughly enjoyed raising his three children. As a child, Russ spent most of his summers at his Grandfather's Gentleman's Farm in Murrinsville, PA with his cousins the Hickeys. He was an adventurous spirit and was fond of spending lazy days canoeing the Brandywine River. Whenever the weather was nice, Russ would be riding, or attempting to patch together, his Harley Davidson.

Russell was not only adventurous but also a free-spirited—and very joyous person who lived life to the fullest. He always saw the positive in everything and was a joy to be around. Known as the "Life of the Party", Russ made a positive difference in the lives of many people. He was an active school chaperone and was involved with the Boy Scouts of America where his two sons both achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Russ had an insatiable sweet tooth, and loved his Budweiser sandwiches.
"Nice Guy Russ Bentley" (NGRB for short) enjoyed sitting at the bar and listing to strangers’ life stories.

He was a member of the American Legion, Democrats Club, and the Three Point Sportsman Club in Clarence, PA and the VFW in Parkesburg, PA. As an avid Hunter and Fisherman, he loved going to the family cabin in Snow Shoe, PA. He also assisted in Hunter Education with black powder demonstrations.

Russell will be missed by his wonderful friends and significant other Kathleen Williams. He is survived by his Mother Anna Jean, his sons Andrew and Zach, his daughter Becca, his brothers Roger and Bill and his sisters Rita Haynes and Linda Mullarkey. Russell was preceded in death by his wife Robin Jane Bentley, his father James R. Bentley and his little brother Bobby.
