Ruby J. Gardner, 76, of Downingtown passed away on Friday October 26, 2018 at Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester. She was the beloved wife of the late Ray A. Gardner with whom she shared 40 years of dedicated marriage.
Born in Mountain City, TN. She was the daughter of the late Tyler B. and Anna Mae Dyson Phillips.
Ruby was retired from I. Goldberg & Co. where she worked for 30 years as a loyal Warehouse Manager.
Ruby had a true passion for many things in life, including bowling; she served in many officer positions for several leagues at the Bowling Palace in Downingtown, as well as clubs across the state. She was an avid Phillies fan, to say the least, and enjoyed afternoons watching golf or the Food Network Channel with her kids or grandkids. But enjoying a cross country ride in the car with her husband Ray & family produced some of her truly fondest memories.
She is survived by her devoted children, Ruby J. Marcocelli of Pittsburgh; Linda M. Clavier and her husband, Eric, of Palmyra; Kenneth R. Watrous, Jr. and his wife, Angel; and Mildred I. Marcocelli and her husband, Mike, all of Coatesville; Loving siblings, her twin brother Roby Phillips, Mary Hazel Ring, Vivian “Debbie”Graybeal and Zenna “Ginny” Reid. Also survived by her 11 adoring grandchildren and five rambunctious great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her seven siblings, Ruth Mains, Walter, Irene, Robert, James “Eddie”, Jerry and Randy Phillips.
Funeral services will begin with vistation between 9:30 to 10:45am, service to immediately follow at 11:00am Wednesday Oct. 31, 2018 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home 736 E. Lancaster Ave, Downingtown.
