Rita S Moeller

Rita Susan Moeller, born November 28, 1950, passed away on April 30, 2021 at her home in Downingtown, PA.  She was the wife of Leonard Miles Moeller, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.

Born in Freeport, NY, she was the daughter of Stanley and Vera Tischler.  She lived in Long Island, NY until her family moved to Florida when she was 10. As a young girl, she exceled in school, particularly math. She sang in her high school chorus and also as part of an octet who often performed at Hollywood Beach.  She was a talented seamstress and sewed almost all of her own clothes. She graduated from South Broward High School and Broward College in Fort Lauderdale, FL with a degree in Data Processing.  She got married on August 1, 1970 in Hollywood, FL and later moved to Downingtown, PA in 1978.  When her children were young, she taught Sunday school and worked as a teachers’ aide. Most recently she was employed at American Telephony, Inc. and worked as an administrator and accountant alongside her husband.

She enjoyed cooking family meals, singing, taking care of the family pets, and attending sporting events to support her children and grandchildren. She loved to play cards with her family who will miss having her as scorekeeper and coveted game commentator. She was an expert at crossword puzzles, making pancake letters to spell your name, loading the dishwasher to maximum capacity, folding fitted sheets, making lists and setting timers. She will be remembered for her unselfish dedication to her family.

She is survived by her spouse, Leonard Moeller, and their three children: Matthew Moeller, Emily Bingham, and Dr. Katherine Moeller, her son-in-law Scott Bingham, daughter-in-law Erin Moeller, three grandsons: Miles Moeller, Kelsey Launi and Maxx Bingham, and her granddaughter Nadia Bingham. She is also survived by her mother, Vera Tischler, her two sisters: Janet Tischler and Nancy Ducker, and several loving extended family members.

The funeral service will be held on May 7, 2021 at 1:00 pm at James J. Terry Funeral Home 736 East Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335. Private interment to be held at a later time. The visitation will be held from 11:30 am to the time of service.
