Richard F. Welsh Jr.

Richard F. Welsh Jr. age 97, of Simpson Meadows, Downingtown PA. passed away on April 27th 2021. He was the beloved husband of Rita Marie Welsh, who preceded him; they shared 63 years of marriage.

Dick was born in Beaver, PA on September 26, 1923, and served in the Army Air Corp in WW II as a lead navigator in the 491st Bombardment Group in the 8th Air Force. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh as a Chemical Engineer on the GI Bill. He retired from DuPont with over a 30 year career.

Prior to moving to Simpson Meadows, he was active in St. Agnes Church where he was a lector. He and Rita were active in Marriage Encounter through which they made many good friends. In Downingtown he was active at St. Joseph Church.

He is survived by his son, Richard F., and his wife, Verena, and their children, Peter and Eve Welsh, two great grand children, Liam and Abby Mendoza Quiros and his sister Laura Cornett.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 21, 2021 in the chapel of St. Joseph Church, 332 Manor Avenue, Downingtown.

Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.
