Richard Dale Thatcher

Richard Dale “Dick” Thatcher, 86, formerly of Downingtown, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Tel Hai Retirement Community, Honey Brook.

Born in Jeromesville, OH, Dick was the son of the late Stanley L. and Dorothy A. (Metzger) Thatcher. He was the husband of Lois (Evens) Thatcher. The couple recently celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Dick had been employed as a teacher, and later a principal in the Downingtown Area School District, where he had been employed for 30 years. He was a life member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the National Education Association. He was also a member of the Downingtown Rotary, serving as President from 1980-81.

In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his children: Scott A. Thatcher of Honey Brook, and Stacy T. Thatcher of Coatesville; brothers: Rodney Thatcher and Lloyd Thatcher; grandchildren: Kyle, Kelly, Lauren, Dayne, Corey, Chase, and Hope.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his sister: Roberta T. Pennypacker.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 1 PM at StoneCroft Center for Worship and performing Arts (CCPA), 1200 Tel Hai Circle, Honey Brook, PA. A Visitation will be held from 12:30-1 PM.
