Michael A. Castaldi, 92, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Downingtown, where he resided for the past 85 years.
He was the beloved husband of Rose F. (nee Formica) Castaldi, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
Born in Caln Township, Michael was the son of the late Michelé and Rosaria (nee Cimorelli) Castaldi.
In March of 1944, Mike was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve during World War II. Two months later, his father received Mike's High School Diploma during Downingtown High Schools' graduation ceremony.
In May 1950, Mike began his 37 career with the railroad as a signalman.
He was a well-known outstanding bowler, who mastered the hardest shot in bowling, the 7-10 split, and appeared on channel 29 with the Pro Bowlers.
Mike could fix almost anything and liked sports and his vegetable gardening.
He was lifelong member of St. Joseph Church in Downingtown, St. Anthony’s Lodge and Minquas Fire House, where he enjoyed playing cards in the afternoon.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Castaldi is survived by his children, Joe Castaldi (Beth), Angela McGinley (John), and Maria McLaughlin (Joe); brother, Dominic "Coogs" Castaldi; grandchildren, Dana (Bob), Maren, Lauren, David, Mark, Courtney; and great grandchild, Taylor.
He was also predeceased by his four siblings, granddaughter, Katie, and great grandson, Bobby III.
An evening visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday, October 18th at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown.
A morning visitation will be held from 9:15 to 10:45 am on Thursday, October 19th at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown, PA 19335 followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11am.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown.
