Mary Frances Sigle

Mary Frances (Zell) Sigle, 82, of Lancaster, formerly of Downingtown, passed away Friday May 4th surrounded by her beloved family. She was a wonderful and special wife, mother and friend. Mary was born in Paradise, Pa in 1936. Once she graduated from Honey Brook high school she pursued a career as a cosmetologist and hairdresser; a vocation that would last 46 years. She was a member of the Downingtown United Methodist Church for many years until relocating to Lancaster at which time she became a member of Georgetown United Methodist Church, Lancaster County. Mary enjoyed her numerous activities as a member of the Downingtown VFW, Ladies Auxiliary and St. Anthony’s Lodge. She was pre-deceased by her first husband Allen E. Walton and her second husband Melvin R. Sigle. Mary was one of 15 children. She is survived by her daughters Jacqueline E. Oswald wife of Joel Oswald of Pleasantville, Pa and Nancy M. Fortna wife of Joe K. Fortna of Quarryville. Mary was the grandmother of Patricia Manning, Lisa Piombino, Ashley Fortna, Jennifer Bowman, Jeffrey Bowman and Justin Wiggins as well as a great grandmother of Logan DeHaven, Hannah Manning, Shannon Bowman, Bryce Corpora, Leiana Corpora, Lillian and Chloe Bowman. She was the great great grandmother of Peyton Elizabeth Bowman. Mary is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 East Lancaster Ave. Downingtown on Tuesday May 8th from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. Her funeral service will be at Noon. Interment will be private.
