Mark V. Swankoski, 63, of Downingtown, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Paoli Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Janet L. Maguschak Swankoski, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage.
Born in Hazleton, Pa, Mark spent his childhood in Freeland PA. He was the son of the late Leonard and Ann Piazzi Swankoski.
Mark held a Masters of Economics from the University of Delaware, and worked as a portfolio manager for Dupont Capital Management; and as a Senior Research Analyst for Citigroup / Smith Barney Global Wealth Management. At the age of 52, Mark embarked on his second career in golf course turfgrass management graduating from The Pennsylvania State University’s program, as Mark was an avid golfer and enjoyed the beauty of the golf course.
Shortly after graduation, Mark was in a car accident resulting in quadriplegia, and began painting by mouth. He has won numerous awards and his paintings have been displayed in several rehabilitation hospitals around the area. Mark was a member of Calvary Fellowship Church in Downingtown and was an inspiration to many.
In addition to his wife, Mark is survived by his three children, Jason Swankoski and his wife Shannon, Kaylyn Swankoski, and Lauren Lay and her husband Charlie; two brothers, Michael and his wife Teresa and Leonard and his wife MaryJo; a sister, Ann Williams and her husband Stephen; and by two granddaughters, Ellie and Madelyn Lay.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Calvary Fellowship Church, 95 W. Devon Drive, Downingtown, PA.
Interment will be private with the family at Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Magee Rehabilitation Hospital.
