Lorraine N. Sitler

Lorraine Fay (Newton) Sitler, 88, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Tel Hai Retirement Community. She was the youngest of four children born November 10, 1931 to the late William Newton and Hilda (Morey) Newton in Nesquehoning, PA. Lorraine was the wife of the late Reverend Paul E. Sitler and they were married since 1953 until his death in Feb. 2004.

Lorraine graduated high school in 1950 and was a Registered Nurse who graduated from Abington School of Nursing in 1952. She worked at Abington Hospital in PA., Wilmington Hospital in DE., and finally Embreeville State Hospital in PA. as Nurse Manager, from where she retired.

Anyone who knew Lorraine will remember that she loved family gatherings and vacations like, driving across the country in their RV. Her trips to Germany, England, Switzerland, Austria, Scotland and Ireland. Lorraine was a hardworking, loving wife and mother who dedicated her entire life to her family.

Lorraine is survived by her youngest son and his spouse, Jonathan Jay (David) Sitler, and her daughter, Christine “Tina” Sitler.  A brother and his spouse William and Mamie Newton, sister in law Stella Newton and many nieces and nephews and their children. Also, a granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lorraine was preceded in death by; Four sons; P. Bryan, Eric N., Timothy M., and Todd D. Sitler. Her brother Richard Newton and her sister and brother in law, Joyce and “Woody” Woodring.

Per Lorraine’s wishes, she is to be cremated and have a private graveside interment service at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lehighton, PA. at a later date.
