Leona A. Woodruff

June 25, 1933 ~ August 18, 2019 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Tribute

Leona A. Woodruff, 86, of Exton, PA passed away at her home Sunday, August 18, 2019. Born Leona Laraine Johnson and raised outside Duluth, MN, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Velva Johnson (nee Van Guilder). February 1952, she married F. Robert “Bob” Anderson (deceased February 1998), also of Duluth, and raised their family in Northern Minnesota; later moving to South Alabama. In August 2002 she married Donald Woodruff (deceased August 2010) of Gulf Shores, AL, and eventually relocated to Pennsylvania where she spent several years nearby her son, Tom and his family.
Leona’s sweet voice has been added to Heaven’s choir. She sang for the Lord throughout her lifetime; in the choir loft, around the house, or sing-alongs in the car on family trips when 8-track tapes grew tiresome. Her love of music and family combined with her strong Christian faith live on as a beacon for all who knew her.

Wife, companion. Modeled by limitless devotion, love and support.
Mother, parent. Exemplified with sacrifice, wisdom, pride and time.
Woman, sister, grandmother. Demonstrated with her caring spirit, sweet smile. Hugs.
A two-time cancer survivor.

All-Star Mom. The driving force behind and the dedicated driver of the family. Organizer, teacher, “chief cook & bottle washer”, field surgeon, scheduler, chauffer/ambulance driver, gardener, homemaker and piano practice enforcer.
An active church goer, Sunday school teacher, choir member and tireless volunteer, she also devoted time for community, professional and educational organizations.

Life served up distractions and tragedy, and faith itself was tested. But so often it was Leona’s inner strength that quieted the noise and shined light on what was good. Thankfulness and grace were her spiritual gifts which forever light our path.

Leona / Mom / Nana / Grandma… we will miss the cards in our mailbox for every occasion – written in perfect penmanship -- but most of all we’ll remember your smile, beauty, intelligence, soft heart and sweet voice.

Leona is survived by her sons; Paul (Lisa) Anderson and Thomas (Shelly) Anderson; Grandchildren Daniel Anderson, Blake Anderson, Mackenzie Anderson, Ryan Anderson, Tristan Anderson; extended Grandchildren Carol Bailey, Paul Langford, Mark Lochhead and Julia Lochhead; siblings Wilma Lundberg (Harold) and Janice Anderson (Arlynn).

Leona is preceded in death by F. Robert Anderson (husband), David B. Anderson (son), Arthur Johnson (brother), Donald Woodruff (spouse)

Leona will be laid to rest in Duluth, Minnesota, Saturday, October 12, 2019 with a brief graveside gathering for immediate family. A Celebration of Life reception for family, relatives and friends will take place later that day from 2-4pm at Black Woods Event Center, 195 Highway 2, Proctor, Minnesota.
