Tribute

Lawrence J. Brescia, Jr., 87, of South Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Jean M. Ciancaglini, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.


Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Lawrence J. Brescia, Sr. and Edith Pargola Brescia.


Lawrence, AKA, Sonny or Beanie, was a man of many trades. He was the owner/operator of
A barber shop in center city Philadelphia. He worked for the City of Philadelphia as an Inspector for Voter Registration, while also working at Veterans Stadium as the Program
Manager. After he retired from the City, he worked part time for Wachovia bank as a delivery Truck driver. He enjoyed baseball, football, the racetrack, playing cards with his
friends and going to the Wildwood beach. Larry loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters and his two brothers.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lynda Anthony and her husband Mark; three grandchildren, Maria Yeager and her husband Ethan, Teresa Naylor and her husband Ryan and Alexandra Anthony; and by his brothers, Robert Brescia and his wife Viola and John Brescia and his wife Anton.


Services will be private with the family. Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
