Karen M. Smith, 56, of Downingtown, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She was the beloved wife of John H. Smith, with whom she shared 32 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Marie Leighton Keesey.

Karen was a loving wife, mother and grandma, who loved going to the beach and caring for her dogs. Whenever you saw her, she most likely had a large McDonald’s diet Coke in her hand.

In addition to her husband, Karen is survived by her sons, Eric (Katy) Smith, and Chris (Louisa) Smith; and her three grandchildren, Emma, Ryan and Madelyn Smith. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kelly L. Smith-Parker.

A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown. Family and friends will be received from 5-6:45 pm.

Interment will be private with the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, Pa 19380.
