Karen M. Harper Layman

Karen M. Harper Layman, 71, passed away at home the evening of April 23, 2022. She was the daughter of the late James Thomas Harper and Elizabeth Helen Oetzel.

Karen was born February 8, 1951 in Philadelphia, PA.  She dedicated her career with Bell Telephone/Verizon for 35 years.  Karen enjoyed helping others and spent her time at Saint Martha’s Manor as Activity Coordinator and Care Giver.  In her spare time, she loved knitting, crocheting, cooking, but most of all spending time with family and friends.

Anyone who knew Karen will remember that she was an extremely giving person, always went the extra step to help others in need with a heart of gold.

Karen is survived by her sisters, Janice Dick (Joseph) and Diane Hall (Joe); niece, Sharon Moffitt (Bill); nephew, Parker (Kellie); 2 Great nephews, Shawn Moffitt (Mikayla) and Collin Moffitt; and 4 great nieces, Cassandra Moffitt, Olivia Zollers, Rowan Hall and Lily Hall.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Monday, May 2, 2022, St. Joseph Parish, 332 Manor Avenue, Downingtown, PA, where family and friends will be received from 9:30 am until 10:45 am. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 W Cheltenham Ave, Philadelphia, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Karen's memory to Immaculata Heart of Mary (IHM) Camilla Hall.
