Julia Adelaide Reynolds Williams

December 14, 1921 ~ March 11, 2020 (age 98)


Julia Adelaide Reynolds Williams, 98 passed away March 11, 2020 at her residence  Sunrise of Exton, PA.  She was the wife of Jack Williams, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.

Born in Beatrice, NE she graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.  Following graduation in 1943, she enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Women’s Reserve attaining the rank of First Lieutenant and becoming the first female Munitions Officer.  She lived and worked for the Corps in San Francisco, CA where she met and married Jack.  

After the war she lived in Phoenixville and Chester Springs, PA.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Phoenixville where she worked in the church office and sang in the choir.  There she met  Irvin “Shorty” Yeaworth, choir director and filmmaker.  She became Shorty’s secretary and worked for him for over 30 years, assisting him with the making of “The Blob “ as well as other feature length films.  She was a devoted friend to the Yeaworth family her entire life.

In 1990, she and Jack retired to live 10 years at the “Lake of The Ozarks” in Missouri.   In 2000 they returned to PA making their home in Exton.  She enjoyed volunteering for the Chester County Library for over 10 years.  She had a talent for writing limericks and would write one for every person that she became friends with.

She is survived by 2 children, Kent Williams of Salt Lake City, UT and Gail Doratt (husband Mike) of Exton, PA.  3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
