JUANITA LORRAINE (AKERS) CARD
Juanita L. Card, 92, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2018 at St. Martha’s Manor in Downingtown. She was the wife of Harold E. Card, who passed away in 2010, and with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl and son-in-law David of Exton, four grandchildren: Amanda Baker of Alfred, New York; Adrienne Rezvani of Olathe, Kansas; Jason (and Sarah) Baker of York, Pennsylvania; and Lyndsey (and Gordon) Holmes of East Fallowfield; and two great-grandchildren Maribeth Baker and Arianna Rezvani. She is also survived by her brother Kenneth Akers of Independence, Missouri, and other extended family.
Juanita was born in Independence, Missouri on February 8, 1926 to Albert and Nora (Koenig) Akers. She was pre-deceased by brothers Albert Jr., Bob, and LeRoy, and sister Eleanora.
Although most of her years were devoted to being a homemaker, she was also a bookkeeper, real estate agent, manager of the Dairy Queen in Fort Scott, and was a member of Eastern Star.
Through the years, Juanita and Harold lived in Fort Scott and Pittsburg, Kansas and spent a few years at the Villages in Lady Lake, Florida. Prior to Juanita moving to Downingtown in 2011 to be near her daughter, they resided in Joplin, Missouri.
Funeral arrangements are through James J. Terry Funeral home where a private family service will be held. Interment will be in Fort Scott National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the music program at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 104 S. Village Avenue, Lionville, PA 19341.
