Tribute

Joseph F. St. Georges, 94, passed away peacefully at home the morning of Thursday, September 17, 2020. The son of the late Maubert de St. Georges and Miriam Kennedy, Joseph is survived by  his loving wife of 42 years, Patricia (nee) McIlvain St. Georges.

Joe was born in Philadelphia and lived his very earliest years in Pennsylvania.  One of his fond recollections was of playing hide and seek with his brother in the Durling Kutz house.  His family then moved to Connecticut and New York.

He attended the Lawrenceville School and went on to graduate from Yale in 1948 with a degree in sociology.  After that he began a varied career, starting with working for South Eastern Freight in Arizona.  This was followed by working for WOR radio, Time Magazine, and Young & Rubicam in New York. He then changed careers and became Vice President of Inmont Corporation to manage IT. His last paid career was founding his own company, Disaster Control, Inc.

He played golf, bridge, and a family card game named “Oh Hell” as well as enjoying scuba diving and a bit later in life flying his own Beechcraft Bonanza airplane for work and pleasure.  He also enjoyed traveling to numerous foreign countries and has stepped foot on all seven continents.

Joe’s children by his first wife, Barbara Ostheimer St. Georges, are:  Aimee (in CA), Lynn (in OR), Mark (in CA) and Melanie (in NM). (Last names of children is still St. Georges). He has a daughter-in-law, Wendy Faxon (in MD) and his appropriated son, Fred Terry, is in NC.   He, as he affectionately would say, inherited two stepchildren when he married “Trish”: James Ruffing (in MD) and Anne Liskey (in VA).  He has 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brother Laurent, two sons: Joseph Kennedy, and Philip, a grandchild Cody Thacher, and an appropriated daughter Tracy Jacobs.

He will be greatly missed by his family.
