Joseph Russell Shafer

Joseph Russell Shafer, 47, of Kennett Square, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Christiana Hospital, Newark.

Joseph is survived by his mother Helen (Totaro) Shafer; his children: Alexis McKee, wife of James, Courtney Shafer, Olivia Shafer, and Joseph Shafer; his Fiance: Becky Higgins; his sister: Joanne Gallagher, wife of Joseph; his grandchildren: Ella McKee and Declan McKee; his niece and nephew Ava and Charlie; and his dog: Bailey.

Joseph graduated from Malvern Preparatory School, where he was a member of the wrestling and lacrosse team. He had a love for sports and was involved with coaching various lacrosse and football teams. Joe enjoyed the beach, listening to live music, going to sporting events and most of all playing with his grandchildren. He was known for his kind heart and generosity. Joe was an outgoing and adventurous person who was happiest being surround by family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13 from 5-7 PM at James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown. It is kindly requested that all guests wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
